The Twisted Street™ 4L80E is built for daily drivers, tow vehicles, work trucks, mild performance engines, and LS swaps that need more than a stock replacement.
This is an upgraded street build with better clutches, added direct-clutch capacity, corrected hydraulics, new internal electronics, and an OEM-style lockup converter.
✔ Rated for up to 500 Horsepower
✔ Daily driving and work-truck use
✔ Mild towing and hauling
✔ Stock and mildly upgraded engines
✔ Mild LS swap applications
✔ Firm, street-friendly shifts
✔ Available in 2WD and 4WD
Final rating depends on vehicle weight, engine torque, tuning, gearing, tire size, converter, and use.
New gaskets, seals, sealing rings, bonded pistons, bushings, bearings, thrust washers, filter, and internal wear items.
This restores proper sealing, oil control, and internal clearances
.
Upgraded friction material handles more heat and load than standard replacement clutches while maintaining smooth street engagement.
New steels give the clutches a clean, flat surface to apply against.
The direct clutch is set up for added holding power where clearance allows.
This helps prevent clutch slip during Third-gear operation, towing, and heavy throttle.
A new wide heavy-duty band improves holding power and durability during loaded operation.
The updated sprag is stronger than early factory designs and helps prevent sprag and intermediate clutch failure.
Corrects common pressure and shift-timing problems while maintaining firm, controlled street shifts.
The valve body is taken apart, cleaned, inspected, and checked for worn valves and pressure loss.
Worn areas are repaired as needed to improve line pressure, clutch apply, shift timing, and converter lockup.
Sonnax valves and sleeves are used where wear is found in the pressure, boost, oil-feed, and converter circuits.
These repairs help prevent low pressure, delayed engagement, clutch slip, and converter problems.
The pump is inspected and set up for proper pressure, converter feed, cooler flow, and lubrication.
Hardened pump rings and recommended pump updates improve pressure control and reliability.
The center support and retaining hardware are inspected and updated as needed to prevent movement inside the case.
New EPC solenoid, shift solenoids, TCC solenoid, internal wiring harness, and applicable sensors are installed.
Electronics are matched to the transmission year and vehicle application.
✔ OEM-style gas lockup converter
✔ Approximately 2,000–2,200 RPM stall
✔ Smooth street engagement
✔ Matched to the engine and vehicle
✔ Built for daily driving, towing, and mild performance
Actual stall speed depends on engine torque, camshaft, vehicle weight, gearing, and tire size.
Billet-cover and higher-stall converter upgrades are available for modified engines, turbo or supercharged combinations, and more aggressive LS swaps.
✔ Better clutch holding power
✔ Increased direct-clutch capacity
✔ Stronger intermediate sprag and band
✔ Improved line-pressure control
✔ More dependable converter lockup
✔ New internal electronics
✔ Common valve-body wear repaired
✔ Firm shifts without race-transmission harshness
An external transmission cooler is strongly recommended for towing, hauling, and heavy vehicle use.
Cooler lines and heat exchangers must be properly flushed or replaced before installation. Contamination from the previous transmission can damage the new build.
